Does this happen to you?

All too often, when people are alkalising, they get into the perfection of it all. It then becomes rigid, you don’t dare to eat ‘the wrong foods’ for fear of getting it wrong. This control mechanism, is what often leads you to binge out. You have just one, and then go ‘sod it’ and then have to completely indulge in the rest of what you are eating, and more.

Yes, you know who you are and you know what I’m talking about!

Remember that it is all a choice. When you choose to eat good nourishing foods, you choose everything that is the benefit of eating that way. When you eat the bad stuff, you choose all the negative impacts that come with it, not just the 2 seconds it takes to scarf it.

So when you do go outside of this rigidity, remember to ‘choose it’ so you don’t blow out. And you can choose to stop at any time and resume good habits. It does not have to be a total loss.

If you are really struggling with sugar cravings, the best way to handle it is by taking powdered magnesium in powder or capsules. Your body wants this (esp in chocoholics) and you will find that your taste actually shifts almost overnight (within 1- 2 days) when you start using the magnesium (Young pHorever pHlush). And you will also find that cravings reduce to nil, and sugar doesn’t taste so great anymore.  Bonus.

What do you do when it all goes seriously wrong?

There is a common misconception in the alkalising community, that if you are alkalising, then you are invincible to the negative impacts of the world, pollution, environmental toxins, germs and generally things going wrong in the body on a large scale.

But what do you do, when you are really taking care of your body, eating nourishing foods that keep you strong and then it all goes very wrong?

This morning at 7.23am I got a message from the daughter of a favourite client of mine.  It was an urgent ‘ring-me-back-now’ call.  We were in contact in less than 10 minutes, and what I could glean from the conversation is that something had gone very wrong, and my client, was in an exceptional amount of pain in her head and behind her eye.   It felt like her head was swollen, and they wanted to know what to do.

Because my client has had a long history of medication (25+ years although now off almost everything) and because she has already had a stroke a few years ago, the most obvious answer is ring an ambulance and get her to A&E NOW.  They can stabilise her and get an MRI and other necessary and very immediate tests.

So straight up, here is the take home message people:

1) When you are in an exceptional amount of pain, get to the doctor, get to the hospital or take the pain relieving drugs. Ring that Ambulance if you need to. In these urgent situations, a litre of greens is not going to fix it, ever, especially when its spine related.

2) You are NOT INVINCIBLE – things can still go wrong, even when you choose a more alkaline diet. There is a lot to consider, it is not just about making some changes and everything will be ok. Your body has many years of tox to release, and this takes time.  Toxin release does not always look and feel, the way we expect it should.

3) You, and you alone, are responsible for your health – you can never make anyone responsible for your own health. At the end of the day, it is up to you to ask questions, to investigate, to explore deeply many options, and then be responsible for the decisions that you make….and that means, standing by your decisions, and owning that decision.

4)  KNOW WHY. If you are seeing a medical doctor who prescribes you drugs, then ask why, be very clear as to why you need to take them. If you are already on medication, ask your doctor if you still need to be on that medication. If you are not having tests to see if that medication is still appropriate, request them of your doctor. If you are on any treatment plan by any practitioner, ask questions, ask WHY, KNOW WHY you need to be taking things. It is not always obvious.

5) Know that Prevention is so much better than having to deal with the consequence. If you eat crap and drink alcohol, coffee, and fruit juices and take uneccessary drugs for years on end, then there will be a consequence. Some people are lucky enough to receive immediate feedback and can deal with it.  For others, it takes years for them to get to that point.  You need to expect though that something, somewhere down the track is going to derail.   How do I know?  I see this all the time.

6) Take Care of your body NOW so you don’t have to spend all your time and financial resources later being ill and trying to take care of yourself.   If you are in excruciating pain, follow point 1).  Pain builds up over time, its nothing new to the body so notice the smaller awarenesses of pain and do something about them before they accumulate.
